Released in early 2005 Chicago's Hardest Working Vol.1 is the debut mixtape by Abstract Mindstate. The mixtape game was starting to pick up at the time and the group needed to find a way to gain momentum and radio support. Abstract Mindstate wasn't big on making traditional mixtape songs (rapping over popular singles) but by the advice of local mixshow DJ's the group did what needed to be done. To balance things out the group chose to record original material specifically for the mixtape as well as add a few songs they were featured on from other projects.
